Are you an inventor?  Do you like making things?  Loscon is bringing back the Make Room.  Here you will be able to showcase your stuff.  If you are interested, please contact Gene Turnbow at info@loscon.org.

Loscon is having a Masquerade this year!  No, we do not have signups online; however, look for the Masquerade sign-up table near the fan table area at the convention and you’ll be able to sign up and participate.

Loscon is also having hall costume awards.

Maria Rodriguez will be running our costume repair station.

Do you want to play a game?  Loscon will have tabletop and electronic gaming available.

Do you like to watch movies?  We will be presenting movies from the time Loscon got started to the present.  Our very own Thomas Safer will be hosting this room, which will include early morning cartoons on Saturday morning.

Like to sing?  I do.  Did you know Spider Robinson is an excellent musician? Yes, there will be lots of music to choose from. Heide Nichols will be running our music program.  You can email her at music@loscon.org.

If you missed your opportunity to purchase a Loscon logo pin, you still can get them here.

Loscon is giving back!  We are bringing back our toy drive, which is being managed by our own Mark Poliner.  Please bring a new, unwrapped toy to Loscon.  You will receive a ribbon in exchange.

Cancer is a concern that is near and dear to our hearts.  We are proud to announce we are working with Julia Ree (a cancer survivor) and the American Cancer Society (ACS).

During the weekend, we will be having an auction to raise money for ACS.  ACS is known for being there for people currently undergoing treatment.  The ACS gives resources, help with rides to treatments, and so much more.  Their mission is to end cancer.  Loscon aims to help with that mission.

If you can, please bring your new or gently used items to the Office at Loscon.  Sometime during the weekend, we will have an auction, and all proceeds from this auction will be donated to ACS.  For more information about ACS, you can visit their website at:  https://www.cancer.org.  For more information on donating your items to Loscon, please visit Loscon Gives Back.

Not sure about donating something for the auction, but still wish to be involved in Loscon giving back?  We are looking for people who knit, crochet, or sew.  We are making hats for cancer patients currently undergoing treatment.  These hats can be dropped off with Joyce Sperling in the Office.  During closing ceremonies, we will distribute these hats to our very own Julia Ree, who has won her own battle with cancer.

Cannot attend Loscon, but still want to donate hats or items for the auction?  Please me at chair@loscon.org and I will reply with a mailing address so items can be shipped ahead of the convention.

Loscon 50, 50 years of memories of those we’ve loved and lost. This year we are putting together a Memorial Wall, which will be available to view in the Art Show. If you have pictures of your LASFS/Loscon loved ones, we invite you to bring them to Loscon. We will display them. We will also have cards, and decorating supplies so that you can leave tributes throughout the convention. We will watch our wall grow with the love of those who may have left this realm, but not our hearts. Death does not release us from membership.

If you have any questions – please email me at chair@loscon.org.

Special note: Loscon will NOT be having a con suite this year.  In its place, there will be a Callahan’s saloon to hang out and talk with your friends, or possibly meet new ones.

Don’t forget, we are moving next door to the Hilton Los Angeles Airport.

See you all there for Loscon 50, November 29 – December 1, 2024.

Thank you
Eylat Poliner, Chair
Susan Fox, Vice Chair
and the entire team of Loscon 50
